The Studio Ocean Mark Blue Safari 35PW/R-D/S (2022) is a next-generation jigging reel built for versatility, precision, and power. Developed from SOM’s long history of lever-drag innovation, the Blue Safari introduces two groundbreaking mechanisms — the WING DRAG system and a 2-Speed Level Winder — setting a new benchmark for compact offshore reels.
The WING DRAG offers the simplicity of a star drag combined with the precision of a lever drag. With four incremental drag stages and a fine-tunable preset knob, anglers can adjust drag pressure from light to maximum with smooth clicks. This allows for accurate control during sudden strikes or long fights, without losing sensitivity.
The 2-Speed Level Winder alternates between tight and cross winding, minimizing line overlap and preventing bite-offs even under heavy loads. Combined with high-modulus Blue Heaven gears, the reel achieves 9 % greater power-transmission efficiency compared to other 300-class reels.
A wide spool maintains consistent reeling speed across depths, while a carbon drag washer paired with stainless-steel drag discs delivers smooth, stable drag performance over extended fights. The waterproof drag housing prevents salt intrusion, ensuring reliability in demanding offshore conditions.
Engineered with a stainless-steel clutch bar coated in DLC, a machine-cut aluminum body, and an adjustable AG41 handle knob (63 mm / 76 mm), the Blue Safari 35PW/R-D/S is a powerful, adaptable reel designed for nearshore and deep-sea jigging alike.
